Drugs are something that the world is trying to extinguish, however, they are becoming more and more readily available, meaning that more and more people are becoming addicted. For those that may know an addict or they may believe that someone is an addict, then they need to note the warning signs for when these people are addicted.
With every drug that a person takes there are different signs that show that they are an addict. However, with most people if they do not get the drug there is a physical effect on them just as much as a mental effect. They may become jittery, shaking, they may start scratching or they may even turn into someone that you do not know, meaning that start displaying an attitude that you have never seen. This is the first indicators that the person is addicted since their bodies cannot cope without it. Other people may notice that they let themselves go, most people who become addicted to drugs live their life for the drug. They may stop hanging out with friends, stop going places and ultimately become someone that locks themselves into their house and never comes out. They become dependent upon the drug in more ways than one since they have a physical dependency in which their body needs the drug and a mental dependency on it in which they believe that they must have it in order to live.
When a person notices that a friend or family member does have a drug dependency, they must get that person some help. The person is not going to think that they need help, however, an addict that is allowed to continue with this sort of life is going to end up dying since these drugs will kill them, no matter what kind of drug that they are doing. Therefore, getting the person into rehab is important. At rehab, the person has to go through the detox stage, which is perhaps the hardest part. Many times they are put into the hospital so that they can be weaned off of the drug and their bodies can be monitored. Those that quit on their own have a hard time since their body is going to be demanding that the drug be put back into their system.
After rehab and getting the person clean, the rehab stage then becomes one in which the person must continue with everyday of their life. They are always going to have that need in the back of their mind until they can think more clearly. This usually involves having constant monitoring to ensure that they are not doing drugs, which may result in them staying in an institution. After this time period, they may still find it beneficial to go to meetings with other addicts to help figure out why they turned to drugs in the first place and to make sure that they do not go back to them. It is a long process and one that may have many setbacks, however, in order to have a better life the person must commit to the process.
